« Sciences Po » Training sessions

Dear parents,

As you may know, in order to expand the learning opportunities after the graduation of its students, Le College Bilingue has initiated since October 2015 “Sciences Po” training sessions for High school students (Grades 10, 11 and 12).

Our objective through the “Sciences Po” sessions is to provide students with the foundations of general knowledge applied to political sciences and to enhance their interest for political events.

This program has been developed around major themes of science, political sociology, economy and geopolitics.

Consequently, our students have benefited from about fifteen hours (15hours) of training led by authoritative lecturers who have treated the following themes:

Theme 1:Presentation and definition of Political Sciencesled by the Minister Advisor to the President, Ismael Madior FALL, Associate Professor of Law.

Theme 2: Definitional and critical approach to political issues in Africa.

Theme 3: Democratic problematic and opportunities in Africa. These two themes were led by Mr. Abdoul MBAYE, former Prime Minister and Dr. Ibrahima SILLA, Professor at Gaston Berger University.

Theme 4: The European Union, a geopolitical project at the crossroads, led by Mr. Assane DRIOUCH, teacher of Social and Economic Sciences at LCB.

Theme 5: Contemporary Question: The Foreign Policy of the United States of America, led by Pr. Ousmane SENE, Professor at Cheikh Anta DIOP University and Director of the West African Research Center ( WARC)

Theme 6: Contemporary Question:  Economics

Theme 7: Contemporary Question:  Globalization, eclectic mix of cultures? These two themes were led by Dr. Malick SANE, Professor at the Faculty of Economic Science and Business Administration at Cheikh Anta Diop University.

This well-diversified program has broadened the general knowledge of our beneficiary students, allowed them to better understand and master topical issues(political, economic, geopolitics, cultural) and they are now more acquainted with the teaching methods at university level, which require more autonomy from the learner.

The “Sciences Po” has been completed with a training of the students about the enrollment process and the constitution of their application dossier, for those who intend to register in colleges abroad. They received documents about the methodology to write a cover letter, a resume, and how to prepare an interview.

All this will be more strenuously deepened during a three days “delocalized coaching sojourn” the school plans to organize in due course for twelve grade students.
